Group C is represented by six members whose genealogies do not extend far enough back in time to make a connection. Members of this group are in the R1b1c haplogroup confirmed by SNP test on Kit #33333. They do appear to be tied together by unique values in three markers. DYS 391=12 occurs in 5% of the R1b1 population. DYS 576=20 occurs in 4% of the population. DYS 392=14 occurs in 9% of the population. Other markers are also significant.

Group C Summary
Ron, Terry L., Ed and George are descendants of Thomas Meek born 1708 who lived in Washington Co., MD. None of the other members can get their genealogies within 100 years of this date. However, Roger's ancestor William was born in Ireland and the family remained in Ireland and England.Because Roger’s family is from Ireland it is assumed that he descends from a common ancestor with Ron and Terry L. not long before the ancestor Thomas Meek was born in 1708. That is consistent with the calculations by FTDNA of 8 generations to a common ancestor. Other members of this group probably descend from Thomas Meek or a close relative such as a brother or cousin.
The common mutation in DYS 449 shared by Ron and Roger appears not to be significant because it is not shared by Terry L. The mutation appears to have developed independently in both lines. The genetic distance between the members of this group is small indicating a close relationship.
Price, Terry A., Thomas R. and Roger do not have paper trails extending further than about 1800. Therefore, any connection to either Thomas born 1708 or John Meek born 1707 cannot be assumed. Roger may well represent a third branch of there group since his family never came to the U. S.
Max, Jere and David probably descend from John Meek born 1707 and who resided in Augusta Co., VA. Max and David's results for DYS391=11 had been thought to distinguish descendants of Thomas and John. However, Jere's results put that theory in doubt. At this point the DNA does not appear to discriminate between the two branches.
Thomas Meek born 1708 and John Meek born 1707 have been considered sons of Guy Meek born in Anne Arundel Co., MD in past genealogies despite a lack of proof. Because this group appears to have Irish roots rather than English this seems unlikely. We do not have a proven descendant of Guy Meek to compare with. In addition, other supposed descendants of Guy Meek have no less than four different DNA profiles.
